CUSTOM WOOD SIGN GRUNGE STYLE
This sign style is very primitive. Individual, clunky, one-inch Western Red Cedar boards are assembled with a rear batten strip and solid brass or stainless screws. It's not unlike how the old-school barn doors were made. It makes the sign bigger without being so much heavier or as expensive as laminating 1-1/2" thick cedar for larger signs.
It's only one-sided this way, though. The bottom line is that you get more signs for less cost! Unlike all our other signs, this clunky guy gets no finish protection (unless you want it finished to preserve its warm colors) and comes to you unfinished; it will just go gray. It'll survive just fine. Look at the totem poles and West Texas fence posts. It's Western Red Cedar, which is nature's favorite tree.

All of our carved wood signs are crafted from Real Western Red Cedar with beautiful, fine-grained fiber and very tight knots - if at all. When we craft signs that are 11" tall or less, we engrave them from 3/4" Cedar, and the signs taller than 11" are custom made from 1-1/4" laminated (like a butcher block or a bowling alley lane) Cedar for additional strength and stability.
