CUSTOM MADE WOOD SIGNS - ORDERING TIPS
In a nutshell, look through the sign styles to find a shape you like. If you click on one of these product photos, it takes you to more information about just that one style: sizes, options, costs, and so on. Add images, and the cost increases. Make your sign larger, and the costs will go up. Want both sides carved? That increases the cost, too. Go ahead! Explore. You don't have to design it. Describe what you want to say and look like. We'll collaborate with you and furnish scale drawings. All you need to see is to approve one for carving.
Size: If your sign is for outdoors, keep in mind that against the scale of all outdoors, your sign can seem small - Use the scale comparison here to get a general idea of one size over another and consider how well it can be read from a distance! It may be worthwhile to make a piece of cardboard the size you are considering and take it outside to where you want it displayed. That will immediately tell you the best size to invest in!
Free Proofs: As many as you need, because if you are like me, "I don't know exactly what I want, but I'll know it when I see it!" Besides, what makes us unique in the Internet of Things, aside from the 60 years of crafting woodworking signs, is that we like collaborating with our customers! We want you to have the joy of working one-on-one with a gifted sign designer to help you get what you want. Like my son says, "Like in the olden days!"
We use Western Red Cedar exclusively: Our signs love to be outdoors and will "Gracefully Weather a Lifetime"! ™
Everything is deeply carved into the wood: You can have any color you want, as long as it's black.
Your Credit Card is only "authorized" at the time of the order: After you approve a proof for carving, your Credit Card is "captured," and the sale is final. If an order is canceled after approval but before carving begins, 25% or $35, whichever is less, is retained for graphic design.
The home page displays all our popular Custom Wood Sign Styles: Choose the style (shape) you want. Sizes are based on that style's height-to-width ratio. The introductory price is the smallest size available in that style. If you want an image included, that will add cost because of the complexity. (See Images & Fonts)
You can have any image you want: There's no catalog you have to pick from - describe what you want - even if it's a bear smoking a cigar while roasting a marshmallow! (We provide you with proofs regardless - so no worries). Our graphic artists will collaborate with you and exchange proofs by email. The only issue is it has to be an image we can carve! (Fishing line on a small plaque, for example)
You can have any font you want: We will take a signwriter's license and guide you toward harmony and balance - again, it's all in the proofs. Think about the sentiment of the sign you want (or maybe you know what font you want to use). We'll give you proofs with appropriate alternatives to consider. As many as you need to "know it when you see it." Our sign designers will help you receive what you want - you don't have to try to design it yourself.
Our Signs Arrive Treated & Finished: No, it isn't
Shiny like polyurethane! Our carved signs are treated with our proprietary Western Red Cedar oil-based, penetrating UV-blocking finish. It can be easily refreshed with our exclusive
Cedar Finish Refresher.
Legacy Plaques: Our carved signs can all be paired up in multiple ways with smaller Legacy Plaques for Kids Names, Pets Names, Addresses. They always arrive complete with solid brass hooks and eyes installed and pre-balanced. If your host sign has an uneven bottom like a State Sign, we also pre-balance the hangers with brass chains so all the hanging names are parallel.
Finally, We carve and fulfill orders in the order we receive them - large orders take longer than others, so there is no predictable number of days for delivery for any of our orders. On average (Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Opening Season - not included, then it's all bets off), shipping is 10 to 16 days after proof approval - sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. That's the way it is - you'll have to be patient. Excellence in Design and Craftsmanship takes longer. We have plenty of imitators out there - if you want to negotiate yourself away from the Best. 60 years Best!
